Project of the Month: UC-190 Installation

We had the opportunity to install one of our new Urethane concrete products this month in Waco, TX. The space to be coated was a commercial kitchen at a Bush's Chicken franchise. This environment sees hot oil spills from the deep fryers, heavy degreasing chemicals, and hot water wash downs which can cause thermal shock. By installing UC-190 urethane concrete, we remedied all these possible issues for the client. This was a full application of cove base, followed by a 3/16" application of UC-190 with sand broadcast to rejection. After an overnight cure, a final coat of UC-190 Topcoat was applied to lock the sand in. The client was very pleased with the result.

Monthly Product Highlight: Polyurea Ultra 2

CFFS Polyurea-2 Ultra is a single component, 100% solids, No Odor, VOC Compliant, Aliphatic Polyurea that was developed for high gloss UV-stable floor topcoats. This coating provides reliable performance in a wide range of temperatures and climate conditions. Polyurea-2 Ultra has excellent resistance to UV rays, excellent abrasion resistance, and resistance to many of today's harshest chemicals. Primary use is for high gloss top coat over smooth surfaces. Not meant to be applied over broadcast floors. No odor allows the installer the flexibility to install indoors with no disturbance to surrounding area. Sold as a 2 gallon kit.

Tech Tips:

Spread Rates

Be sure to check and know what the recommended spread rates are for each product you are using. Not only will the correct spread rates give the coating the best chance to optimally perform, but will cut down on any unnecessary wasted product. Coatings that are applied too thick, have a chance for outgassing to occur or even change the sheen of the coating. If applied too thin, separation or "fish eyeing" can occur, along with dry spots that are unprotected and could lead to coating failures.
